Progress, of sorts.

Good morning.

We have come to a necessary decision because of the boys as we don't expect contracts to be signed until middle/towards the end of next week because of the Bank Holiday so this is how things will be.

As soon as they are signed we will pack up the last of our things, we have done so much already, and make the move to the new house. But we have also made the decision to rent on a holiday park very close to the house and school so the boys can start on September 7. We cannot have them in limbo any longer so this is the best thing for us all. It also means the work on the house can start whilst we are not in it and the boys, most importantly, can get into some sort of a routine. There are so many new things they need to be getting involved with and we don't want them missing any more than absolutely necessary. We are the kind of parents who don't even take them out of school for dental appointements, let alone family holidays, so this is something we feel very stongly about and we a lot happier now we have come to this point.

The next few days will involve more waiting, hubs has stayed on at work for a little longer and I can get some more things packed and boxed up, like hubs clothes as he is going to be living in his work clothes for the foreseeable and I have a fantastic flying suit overall that will be my 'uniform' when helping around the house and nothing flash if running between school etc. It is a shame the boys won't be able to take the bus to school for a little while yet as that is something they were really looking forward to.

On we go.

  1. Life is never simple, is it! Probably your boys will look at living at a holiday park as a great adventure but it might not be so much fun for you. Good luck!

    1. Thanks! Luckily it should only be about 4 weeks, the work needed is not so severe that we will be there much beyond the end of September, maybe just into October. But we are adaptable and quite resilient. I have got used to managing with the bare essentials since we were packed up a lot when the sale fell through.

  2. Its all character building as my husband kept telling me, it will be a big adventure at least you are making headway and its easier to have an empty to house to work on :-)

    1. Yes I agree and it is a means to an end because this is our dream home and anything is worth it.

  3. I think you've made the totally right decision. I would have done the same. Like you, we never take Violet out of school for appointments and wouldn't dream of going away during school time. So I totally see your point.

At least things are moving forward nicely now. looking forward to seeing you new home (hoping you share pics!) and hearing about your new adventure.

    1. Thanks for the empathy, Sadie. So many people look at things like holidays in term time as just about saving money but we try to work round that, and I just make dental appointments in the holidays. Simples! We have had some possible good and useful news today. Hubs has just gone to look at a caravan belonging to my father in law's cousin. It is a tourer and may suit us to put it on the garden at the back of the new house, luckily we have a good amount of space there, instead of going to the holiday park! Also means the boys wold be able to go to school on the bus, which stops just outside the house, and I would have easier access to all our stuff! Trying not to get too excited as may not be viable but wish me luck. I am thinking of starting a new blog but may just draw a line under this one and simply begin anew with the move.

  4. I like this page because right on the welcoming page you can fill out a little section to get a free quote. It is easy to find the pricing of everything that a customer would be responsible for. This page also lets you know that this business specializes in residential moving as well as piano moving.
